A sunset dive takes place at the end of the day, as the sun goes down. You enter the water while it is still daylight, then witness the shift to night from below the surface. It is not a night dive: it is the underwater twilight, that short moment when day gives way to darkness. The low light of the setting sun creates colours you won’t see at any other time.

A responsible alternative to night diving

In Réunion, the sunset dive makes perfect sense during the southern winter, from June to October. During whale season, it replaces the night dive: we avoid sailing at night near humpback whales, for their peace and for everyone’s safety. You get all the magic of twilight without disturbing the cetaceans.

Exceptional biodiversity

Réunion is home to a wide variety of marine species. Dive after dive, you come across turtles, multicoloured fish, rays, moray eels, and depending on the season, dolphins and humpback whales. Each reef has its own atmosphere.

From the supervised introductory dive to the drop-offs reserved for experienced divers, the west coast offers sites suited to everyone: shallow reefs for beginners, walls and wrecks for the more experienced.
